3. Shared Architecture — Copper-Tube Split Roof
Both models use the copper-tube split-roof architecture: fin-and-tube copper coils on condenser and evaporator, 8 × ZHF283502 evaporator blowers, and 6 condenser fans (SLF22801C on the WL38L, KL259E on the WL38LY). The WL38LY's larger 4GFCY drive and extended footprint cover the extra metre of vehicle length.

Q1. What is the real difference between WL38L and WL38LY?
Capacity class (36/38 kW vs 38/42 kW), compressor (4NFCY vs 4GFCY), vehicle length band (11.5–12 m vs 13–14 m) and condenser fan type.
Q2. Which models use Bitzer-type compressors?
Both — 4NFCY on the WL38L and 4GFCY on the WL38LY, both 750 cc class, serviceable through standard Bitzer parts channels.
Q3. Are the coils repairable?
Yes — copper-tube fin-and-tube on both sides.
Q4. What refrigerant do they use?
R134a with 13.0 kg factory charge on both.
Q5. Can I upgrade later?
The roof platforms differ in footprint (4750 vs 4900 mm), so the WL38LY needs its own roof-cut verification — check the opening drawing before ordering.
