Reading the Four Declared Design Attributes — Refurbished GEA / BOCK FK40 655K, 560K, 470K

Pneumatic transmission · air-cooled · rotary type · symmetrical balance cylinder arrangement · 24 V · R134a · 1 year warranty

Document type: OEM replacement product file | Platform: GEA and BOCK FK40 | Condition: refurbished | Warranty: 1 year

  • Overview
  • Recommended Products

1. Why the Declared Attributes Matter More Than the Title

Three separate listings cover this range — a GEA rebuild at 655K / 560K / 470K, a BOCK FK40 655K refurbished unit, and a multi-variant BOCK FK40 / FK50 / FKX40 655K / 560K / 470K offer. Their titles overlap. What separates them is a set of four design attributes recorded in the supplier's parameter table, and those four are worth reading properly before you buy.

The four are: transmission power, cooling method, job classification and cylinder arrangement mode. This page explains what each one is telling you.

2. Attribute One — Transmission Power: Pneumatic

The supplier records transmission power as pneumatic. In an open-drive bus compressor this describes how the unit is engaged and controlled rather than how it is driven — the belt turns the pulley, and engagement is governed by the control side.

Why it matters to you: it tells you this is a directly driven compressor, not an electrically driven one. The drive interface is a pulley and belt plus a clutch, which means the pulley form on the unit you are replacing has to match.

3. Attribute Two — Cooling Method: Air-Cooled

Recorded as air-cooled.

Why it matters to you: the unit relies on airflow across its surfaces rather than a dedicated coolant circuit. On a bus installation that makes the condition of the surrounding airflow path — the condenser pack, the fan and the airflow through the engine bay — part of the compressor's working environment rather than a separate system.

4. Attribute Three — Job Classification: Rotary Type

Recorded as rotary type.

Why it matters to you: paired with the FK40 model designation, this is the classification you quote when a buyer or a warranty desk asks what class of unit you fitted. It is also the attribute that distinguishes this unit from a scroll-type compressor in our electric range.

5. Attribute Four — Cylinder Arrangement: Symmetrical Balance

Recorded as symmetrical balance.

Why it matters to you: cylinder arrangement drives how the compressor behaves under load — the balance of the reciprocating masses across the crank. A symmetrical arrangement is the reason these units hold a variable capacity classification rather than a fixed one, as recorded on the same listings.

6. The Declared Specification Card

Everything the three listings state, on one card. Where an attribute is not recorded on a given listing it is not shown here.

7. Identification and Sizing Across the Three Listings

The three offers do not publish the same level of dimensional detail, and the weights they record differ. Compare the unit you are replacing against the weight and package figures below, and quote the OE reference to fix the identity.

The three listings record materially different single gross weights for the same FK40 platform. That is a packaging and variant difference, not a dimensional contradiction — but it means weight alone will not identify your unit. Quote the reference as well.

8. Enquiry Checklist

  • State which platform: GEA FK40 or BOCK FK40 / FKX40 — the two are recorded separately across these listings.
  • Give the displacement step: 655K, 560K or 470K.
  • Quote the reference as it appears on your unit: compressor FK40 655K, Fk40 655k, or FKX40 655K.
  • Tell us the refrigerant and voltage in your system — the listings state R134a at 24 V, and a system running something else needs different confirmation.
  • Send a photograph of the plate if the number is hard to read.

Q1. What is the difference between the GEA listing and the BOCK listings?

They are the same FK40 platform recorded under two supplier entries — a GEA rebuild and BOCK-branded refurbished units. The declared design attributes are identical across all three; the recorded origin and packaging weights differ.

Q2. Why do the listings give three different weights?

Because the three offers are recorded with different packaging and variant data: 3.000 kg, 35.000 kg and 40.0 kg single gross weight. Use the weight as a cross-check only, and quote the reference to fix identity.

Q3. Does it run on 12 V?

The listings record 24 V across this FK40 range.

Q4. Which refrigerant?

R134a is declared on all three listings.

Q5. Is it new or refurbished?

These are refurbished and rebuild units — the supplier's own parameter table renders the model as *Rebuild Compressor FK40 655K*. The multi-variant BOCK listing also states that refurbish and original are both available.

9. Minimum Order and Delivery Schedule

If this is a first order with us, this is the whole sequence from your enquiry to dispatch — including where the minimum order quantity and the production time are fixed.

1. Send the reference — OE number, brand and model, or photographs with measurements. That fixes what is being quoted.

2. Minimum order quantity (MOQ) is confirmed against the item type: standard catalogue items from 1 – 2 pieces, batch items typically 6 – 50 pieces, customised items by tooling and process.

3. Production time is confirmed in writing — the interval from order confirmation to goods being ready for dispatch. Where the official listing publishes a figure, it is in the table on this page.

4. Production runs and is inspected — first-article inspection and in-process sampling; SGS, BV or TÜV can attend before dispatch if you want it.

5. Goods are packed and dispatched — export packaging as standard, shipping method agreed with the quotation.

Nothing here depends on your volume being guessed. Give us the quantity you have in mind and both figures — order quantity and production time — come back confirmed on the quotation.

As published on the official listing for each reference above. Production time is the period stated to produce the goods before dispatch; the exact figure for your quantity is confirmed on the quotation.

10. Custom Work: Scope, Steps and Timeline

Customisation is worth doing when a standard reference is close but not exact — a different mounting face, a harness length that does not reach, or your own brand on the box. The scope is deliberately wide, and the timeline is short enough to test before committing.

  • Private label (ODM). Your brand on an existing line: silk-screen, label, packaging box, instruction sheet, warranty card. Protects your brand position and needs no tooling.
  • Sample-based. Your part is stripped, measured and analysed, then reproduced to performance — and made more durable where the design allows.
  • To drawing. Dimensions, electrical parameters and mounting method built to your specification.
  • Concept-to-production. Design development for parts that have no reference, with cost-backwards optimisation inside the quality limits.

Timeline. Standard sample-based work produces a sample in approximately 30 days; a brand-new tool may take longer depending on mould complexity. Once the sample is approved, mass stocking takes 40 – 60 days, subject to process and quantity. Plan the tooling question early — it is the single largest variable in the schedule.

Small-batch trial first. Test a low-quantity order against a standard reference, confirm quality and cooperation, then move to your own reference and volume. It is the cheapest way to de-risk a first programme.

11. How the Quality System Is Certified

Auditors and buyers who want the shortest possible answer to *is this factory actually certified* can work down this list:

1. Certified to IATF 16949 — the automotive quality management system, covering design and production of bus and truck air-conditioning components.

2. Full-process control to ISO 9001 requirements — incoming inspection, in-process control and finished-product testing are all documented stages, not spot checks.

3. TÜV Rheinland on-site audit passed — an independent third party has been through the plant.

4. Component testing on in-house instruments — dynamic balance, electrical performance, high and low temperature, and endurance life testing; 100% incoming inspection on materials.

5. Third-party pre-shipment inspection supported — SGS, BV or TÜV, to the standard you nominate.

6. Destination-market compliance declarations — CE and RoHS for fan and motor products; FCC accommodated for North America.

We would rather you verify the system than accept a claim about it — ask for the test data for your part number, or come and audit the line.

12. Approvals and Test Reports on Record

The approvals fall into two levels, and it matters which is which when a certificate has to go into a quality or tendering file.

15. OE Cross-Reference and Market Coverage

Buyers in the aftermarket rarely arrive with a clean part number. Either the plate has corroded, or the number on the shelf is a brand reference rather than an OE reference. Both routes are covered here.

What you give us

What we do with it

An OE number

Match against the cross-reference library — the most reliable route

A brand and model reference

Match within the replacement coverage for that brand range

A photograph of the old part with measurements

Identify the geometry and confirm the reference before you commit

Nothing but the vehicle

Work back from the vehicle model and year to the likely reference

Replacement coverage includes SPAL, Valeo, Thermo King, Webasto, Scania, Yutong, DAF, Mercedes, Volvo and Hwasung Thermo references. Where a match cannot be confirmed, we say so and propose sending a sample for verification rather than shipping on a guess.

Applications span passenger cars, buses and coaches, heavy trucks and semi-trailers, and large vehicles such as construction machinery, forklifts and mining trucks. Main export markets are the Middle East, South America, South East Asia and Eastern Europe, with Mexico, the UAE and the Philippines as the three largest.

16. Procurement FAQ

Q1. How do I identify the right reference?

Give us the OE number if you have it — that is the most reliable route. Otherwise a brand and model reference, or photographs plus measurements of the old part. If nothing can be confirmed, we will tell you and propose sample verification instead of shipping on a guess.

Q2. What quantity should I start with?

Standard items start from 1 – 2 pieces, batch items from around 6 – 50 pieces. Most buyers take a small trial order, verify the quality in their own market, then scale — and the quantity, production time and shipping method are confirmed in writing with the quotation.

Q3. What is the warranty?

1 year across the range.

Q4. How long does production take?

Production time is published per reference on the official listing and reproduced on the ordering section of this page. For custom work, a standard sample-based project produces a sample in approximately 30 days, with 40 – 60 days stocking after approval.

Q5. Does it come export-packed?

Yes — inner box, outer carton and shock cushioning are included in the quotation, designed to sea-freight standards, with drop and compression sampling before dispatch. Colour boxes, wooden cases and palletisation are available on request.

Q6. Can I combine models in one shipment?

Yes. Several models can be mixed into one container with cartons marked by destination, which uses the container better and lowers the freight cost per unit.

Q7. Who inspects before shipment?

You can. SGS, BV or TÜV can inspect to a nominated standard such as AQL, and the shipment is released after the inspection is passed.
